The story behind CowParade
The idea of CowParade came into being in Zurich, Switzerland, at the end of the 90s. Its goal is to make art approachable in the urban environment. For everyone, without barriers. Until 2012, 75 CowParade events have been organised all over the world. Approximately 300 million people have visited at least one event somewhere in the world.

A CowParade event runs 2 to 3 months and is always organised in cooperation with local partners. Since 2000, a special event was added: The auction of the life-size art cows at the end of the exhibition. Many tens of millions of dollars have been collected for local charities – already over US$ 40 million has been collected.

The identical scale models
The complete collection consists of about 500 different cows. The differences lie in the design, the size, the material, and sometimes the processing. The scale models are exact replicas of the models that have been on display on a CowParade event somewhere around the world.

In total, more than 5000 artists have painted a cow at an event, so inspiration for the scale models is always available. That is why approximately every 6 months a new collection of about 20 new design comes out. From all continents, all possible events, all years. For the collection two materials are used. The large majority is made of high-quality synthetic resin – poly resin. In addition to this, a part of the collection is made of ceramic; you can find these among the “medium” cows.
