My Beautiful Love
Her Miffy is called My Beautiful Love and this title is written on the back in Japanese. ‘During the eighties I lived in Utrecht at the Kromme Nieuwegracht. Every morning I saw a man with a moustache there on his bicycle, cycling to his studio across my home. ‘Good morning, Mister Moustache’, I always said to him. Later on he would smile and say: ‘My name is Dick.’ At that time, I was a student at the academy of arts and beneath his studio was a printer office where I picked up free paper. He always came by to say hello. It is a privilege for me to pay a tribute to him and express my appreciation for his oeuvre and his Miffy.’
