The Vitruvius Man (ca. 1490)
As an autodidact, da Vinci tended to compensate for his lack of classical education with an excess of empirical studies. The best known of these is the Vitruvius Man, so called because it is based on a description of ideal human proportions by the Roman architect Vitruvius (± 85-20 BC).
Size: 42 cm.
A real eye-catcher due to its size!
